GirlsGO! Adventure Series Part 1: Journal Making

March 24^th, 6-7PM

Join Sarah as she teaches you how to construct your own journal! Your new journal will inspire you to set awesome adventure goals and will be used in future Adventure Series workshops.

We are happy to introduce you to our instructor Sarah Southard. Sarah has lived in King George for the past 19 years and has been an avid artist since she could hold a pencil. In addition to her artistic side, she is also very passionate about the outdoors. Sarah has been hiking and backpacking for years, and in 2018 she accomplished her dream of completing a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. In addition to backpacking thousands of miles, Sarah is also a certified Wilderness First Responder.

GirlsGO! Adventure Series Part 2: Watercolor Workshop

Join Jennifer as she teaches you how to start using watercolor in your nature journaling! She will discuss the basic materials needed and focus on learning techniques with a seasonal item we've gathered from nature.

We are happy to introduce you to our instructor Jennifer Manfre. Jennifer Manfre, a native of Fredericksburg, earned her degree in studio art and MEd from UMW. She is a local educator, writer, artist, and award-winning photographer. GirlsGO! Adventure Series Part 4: Trail Mix-er

May 6^th, 9AM – noonish

Location: Caledon State Park – 4-mile hike

We’ve prepared our adventure journal and now it’s time to hike one of our favorite local trails and meet new friends (the “mix” in Trail Mix-er). If you’ve attended any one of our Adventure Series Workshops, then this hike is FREE – a bonus for participating.

Your guides are April Peterson (owner) and Sarah Southard (hiking guide) from River Rock!

The plan –

We will meet at Caledon State Park in the main parking lot at 9AM. From there we will hit the trail! The trail is approximately 4-miles long and will include a stop at the river! We will meander our way back to the parking lot where we will enjoy a snack/light lunch together. The trail is easy but just keep the distance in the mind and know your limits.

This is a great opportunity to pair up with an adventure buddy and get to know other local hikers in our area.

What to bring –

Light day pack with at least 2L of water
Weather appropriate clothes and hiking shoes
A snack or light lunch (there is no refrigeration so pack something that won’t spoil)
