$20.00
Cost $20.00

This is a longer hike (9.8 miles) through wild blueberry bushes and an awesome swimming hole! We will make stream crossings and see small waterfalls and a vista. Among all this beauty we will discuss basic camp skills including how to choose a camp site and Leave No Trace principles. Join us on one of our favorite Shenandoah National Park trails – the Riprap Trail.
Shenandoah National Park describes this hike as:
Whatever your reason for hiking, you will find it on Riprap Trail. Explore the top of Chimney and Calvary Rocks and admire the captivating views of the hollow below. Follow the creek as it cascades down the mountain through thickets of berry bushes and rhododendron. Riprap Trail enchants hikers because it offers a memory at every turn. It’s a microcosm of the 500 miles of trails that crisscross Shenandoah National Park.

Meet us at River Rock Outfitter at 6:45AM so that we may leave at 7:00AM. This will give Meegana ample time to provide a gear check.
Carpooling is suggested as parking is limited. Parking is free at the trail head but if you have a Shenandoah Pass bring it along as access to the park costs $30.00 and is not included.
