Campfire Cocktail

Hot Buttered Bowman’s Cider


Ingredients (Yield: 4 Servings):

  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup Bowman’s Bourbon (use your favorite)
  • Fresh nutmeg

Bourbon Vanilla Whip

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tbs 10x sugar
  • 2 tsp bourbon vanilla extract


Bring apple cider, water, brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon, and star anise to a quick in medium sauce pot. Remove from heat; cover and let steep 15 minutes.

Make Bourbon Vanilla Whip – place the cream in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment.  Whip cream until foamy and then add the sugar and extract. Beat until soft peaks form.  Set aside in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Once cider has steeped, whisk the butter into the cider mixture until fully melted and return to a simmer, continuing to whisk constantly.  Once butter has melted, remove the pot from heat and stir in the bourbon. Strain/divide into 4 mugs.

Top with Bourbon Vanilla Whip and sprinkle with fresh nutmeg.
